Chiguru centre for Science & Technology Education, Research, and Communication welcome you to the Near-earth Objects Research Programme (NEOPR), an extensive 10 weeks Citizen Science Research cum course to learn about Minor planets such as Asteroids, Comets, Moon etc.
Are you interested to grow your skills in Astronomy and Astrophysics? This course cum citizen science research will help you to take the first step towards your skill goal. Join us to get a basic foundation of Astro-Maths and fundamental physics.
The training workshop course has the following set of activities.
Activity: 1 [Theory] Interactive discussions with Researchers to get a wholesome idea of Near-Earth Object Research activities. Under this activity, all the participants will get the basic theoretical foundations, Data, visualization, especially in mathematical calculations.
Activity 2: [Workshop] Introduction to Research methods and existing Independent research opportunities/ Citizen Science Research works. In this activity, all the students will get hands-on exposure to independent research opportunities, especially Digital Sky mapping using Stellarium (a planetarium software).
Activity 5: [DART Mission - webinar] This webinar will help the participants to become Planetary Defender certificate holders from NASA.
Activity 4: [Project

will be given to the participants based on their performance in workshop. This
activity will span 4 weeks.
Activity 5: [Project
- II]
participate in the International Asteroid Search Campaign* to detect
Asteroids digitally. Participants may have a chance to name the new
discovery of Asteroids. After the successful completion of this programme, participants will get another special certificate from International Astronomical Search Collaboration.
Requirement: Laptop/Desktop with Windows operating system Eligibility: Students from 8th std and above can participate. (Basically, they need to have the basic knowledge to operate Computer & Eager to learn Science and Technology)
(*Note: The fees will not limit any students to participate in the Asteroid Search Campaign. Interested students can approach us directly to have the training to participate in the IASC campaign alone)

Special note: If a participant is having a greater interest to develop skills in Astronomy, but struggling to pay the fees for the programme can get scholarships from CSTERC. Such participants can write their expression of interest to csterc@chigurucolab.com
